HM-183 Tank Inspector helps registered cargo tank facilities schedule 49 CFR §180.407 tests and produce complete §180.417(b) inspection reports. It is designed to collect nothing: no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking.
The short version
- Your inspection records never leave your device.
- No account, no sign in, no ads.
- No third-party analytics or tracking tools.
- The app makes no network requests of its own.
What the app stores
- Cargo tanks, inspection reports, checklist findings, drawn signatures, inspector and instrument records, and repair records you enter are stored locally on your device in the app's private storage.
- Deleting the app deletes all of this data.
- Device backups you configure (such as iCloud or encrypted local backups) are governed by Apple's terms, not ours.
What the app does not do
No personal information is collected, transmitted, sold, or shared. No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs are included. The app itself makes no network requests.
Photos
Specification plate scanning uses Apple's photo picker, which shares only the single photo you choose. Text recognition runs entirely on your device with Apple's Vision framework. The app does not upload or retain the photo.
Report sharing
When you export an inspection report PDF, it goes only to the destination you choose in the iOS share sheet. Nothing is sent anywhere automatically.
Regulatory disclaimer
The app performs deterministic scheduling calculations and report completeness checks only. It does not certify a cargo tank; the qualified inspector makes the final determination. Always verify requirements against the current 49 CFR text.
Children
HM-183 Tank Inspector is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data handling ever changes, this page and the date above will be updated with the release that changes it.
