Frequently asked questions

How do I get started?

Add your chanter, add a reed, then pair them into a setup. Rate that setup on tone, stability, comfort, and response, and ReedFit starts keeping score. The first run walks you through all three steps.

Why do I have to pick a chanter for every setup?

Because a reed behaves differently in each chanter. A setup is one reed in one chanter with your own notes on seating depth, bridle, and any modification — that pairing is the thing worth remembering, and comparisons only happen within a single chanter.

I changed a setup after testing it. Where did my old scores go?

Nowhere — that is deliberate. Once a setup has its first test it is locked. Editing its notes records a new setup with the same reed and chanter, and the original keeps its tests. The older one is then labelled Historical. Tests never move silently from one setup to another.

What is a Ready backup?

A setup you have personally decided is dependable. ReedFit only asks that the reed is Active and that the setup has at least one test of its own; the judgement is yours. You can keep as many Ready backups as you like. If you mark a reed damaged, retired, or archived, ReedFit clears Ready for that reed's setups.

Why won't ReedFit tell me what to adjust?

Because it does not know. ReedFit does not listen to your pipes and cannot diagnose a reed. It records what you enter and reports arithmetic over it. Every score states how many tests it came from, and no pattern language appears until a setup has at least three tests.

Do I have to fill in humidity and temperature?

No. All four ratings are required; everything else — humidity, temperature, altitude, warm-up time, and the note — is optional and never blocks a save. Temperature and altitude display in whichever units you pick in Settings, and are always stored in Celsius and meters so changing units never alters a record.

What does the free version include?

One non-archived chanter, three non-archived reeds, and ten saved tests — enough to run a real comparison. ReedFit Unlimited is a one-time purchase that removes those limits and unlocks full backup, restore, and CSV export. One purchase, no subscription. Nothing you already recorded is ever removed when you hit a limit.

My purchase didn't unlock. What do I do?

Settings → Restore Purchases while signed into the same Apple Account that bought ReedFit Unlimited. If it still doesn't unlock, email us.

How do I move my data to a new iPhone?

Settings → Back Up Data writes a single file containing every reed, chanter, setup, test, and photo. On the new device use Settings → Restore Backup. Restoring replaces everything currently in ReedFit, so it shows you the record counts and asks you to confirm first.

Does it work offline?

Completely. ReedFit never needs a network connection — there is no cloud and no account.
